I love it when I can link a spooky story with history — and this one is both for sure!

SPOOKY CIVIL WAR FORT 👻 👀
😬 Fort Delaware, perched on Pea Patch Island in the Delaware River, is not just a historic Civil War fortress—it's also one of the most haunted places on the East Coast!
I got to go on a tour during a full moon, which made it even more interesting — and beautiful! The fort is located off the coast of Delaware City and can only be reached by ferry.
With this secluded and eerie atmosphere, Fort Delaware draws ghost hunters and thrill-seekers who are eager to uncover the supernatural secrets hidden within its stone walls.
The Diamond State Ghost Investigators and park staff offer a three-hour recreational paranormal investigation, where participants take part in actual investigations, using electronic magnetic field detectors, data recorders, and temperature sensors.
Guests are told to bring a flashlight and to wear comfortable walking shoes. The remaining departures times are 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. on October 25-26.
They also offer daytime trips to tour the fort that was completed around 1859. It became a Union prison camp during the Civil War, and housed about 12,596 Confederate prisoners of war at one time.
Whether you're a seasoned paranormal investigator or simply curious about the mysteries of the past, a ghost hunt — or a daytime tour — at Fort Delaware promises an unforgettable experience.
(No, I didn’t see any ghosts during my visit, but others in different groups did!)

If you love history — or ghost hunting — you’ll truly enjoy a visit to Fort Delaware. The fort is a true architectural marvel. I want to go back and see it during daylight hours, instead of by flashlight!

Want To Clean Your Cutting Board?
Once a month sprinkle a few pinches of coarse salt across the surface and rub with a cut side of a lemon half. Let the salty juice sit for five minutes, then rinse clean with a bristled brush and hot water. You can coat the whole thing with food safe mineral oil.
