How About These Digs For A Short Getaway?
In 1895 Frederick Vanderbilt and his wife, Louise, bought a Hyde Park NY property to use as their spring and fall country estate.
They had this Beaux-Arts mansion built and incorporated the latest innovations including electricity, central heating and indoor plumbing.
I wrote a complete blog post on the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park NY if you want to learn more, but here are some photos.
Inside the Vanderbilt Mansion
The Vanderbilt Mansion tour costs $10 and lasts about an hour. The tour of the house lets you see about 18 rooms on three floors.
Nice Bedroom!
Louise Vanderbilt’s bedroom is a reproduction of a French Queen’s chamber from the Louis XV period. It features a ceremonial railing around the bed, silk wall coverings at the head of the bed, and French paintings.
The Garden Area
I was at the mansion in November, so the garden area was a little bleak, but I’m sure it is stunning in season.
I hope you enjoyed taking a look inside the Vanderbilts Hyde Park NY mansion.
Until next time! - Jessica
