Going to see Mount Vernon isn’t like doing a quick house tour. The estate is HUGE and can easily take three or four hours to see everything. There are original outbuildings, a pioneer village, slave cemetery, and the tombs where George and Martha Washington are buried.
One of the most amazing (and memorable) rooms in the house in the Washingtons’ bedroom. It is the room where George Washington died and the original bed that was saved from Arlington House by Robert E. Lee’s wife during the Civil War.
