The Dickson Williams Mansion in Greeneville, TN, is a stately brick home that stands on a small hill behind the historic General General Morgan Inn.
It is peaceful and beautiful there now, but in 1864 it is where General John Hunt Morgan spent his last night on earth.
He tried to make a getaway when he discovered that Union troops had surrounded the house, but was shot ingloriously in his nightclothes in the front yard.
Here are some photos from the interior of the house that is now immaculately restored. Much of the furniture is original or has been donated by the Dickson and Williams’ families.
The last three photos are taken in the room where General Morgan spent his last night.
